About This Calculator
This calculator uses a generalized scoring system inspired by standard Law Enforcement and standard military Physical Fitness Tests (PFT). Each of the three events is worth a maximum of 100 points, for a total possible score of 300.
Generally, a score of 60 points per event (180 total) is considered the minimum passing standard, while scoring 90+ in an event is considered exceptional.
How to Improve Your PFT Score
- Push-Ups: Focus on strict form. Don't flare your elbows out; keep them at a 45-degree angle. Practice "greasing the groove" by doing multiple sub-maximal sets throughout the day.
- Sit-Ups: Core strength is key. Practice paced breathing (exhale on the way up). Don't pull on your neck with your hands.
- 1.5 Mile Run: Combine slow, long-distance runs (Zone 2 cardio) to build your aerobic base with 400m and 800m sprints on a track to build your speed.
